I’m a researcher, community advocate, and communications strategist. My recent community advocacy has been focused on responsible land use planning and transportation choice.
I’m completing a PhD in Political Science at York University in Toronto, studying local and urban politics. My dissertation research focuses on how the Region of Waterloo embraced “smart growth” planning approaches, and how elected officials come to understand policy issues. In my previous academic work, I’ve produced diverse scholarship in the fields of political theory and gender studies.
I live with my spouse in my hometown of Waterloo, Ontario, and if I’m not talking or writing about politics, institutions, or public policy, you’ll probably find me singing or knitting.
